Watching the Watchers:
A Security Model for Vendors and IT Administrators

An Xceedium Whitepaper

www.xceedium.com

Abstract
Enterprises must provide a variety of third parties – hardware and software vendors, outsourced support vendors, independent consultants, and managed service providers – access to the internal infrastructure and systems.  To provide essential services, these “untrusted” users are allowed into internal systems with powerful access tools that can access unauthorized areas. To efficiently and securely manage IT operations requires adherence to best practices, including consider centralized management for IT operations, compartmentalization, violations control and visibility and accountability.  This allows companies to increase operational efficiency, provide access without granting keys to the kingdom and have a complete audit trail across the data center.
