ROI Case Study: Deployment of QlikView at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG
An Experton Group White Paper © 2007
www.qlikview.com
Abstract
According to a current analysis by Experton Group on business intelligence (BI) in
German user companies, data-relevant themes and integration issues are named most
often as future challenges related to business intelligence.
A high quality of data requires the commitment of both the IT and the business side.
There are significant risks involved. Inconsistent data may cause a lack of acceptance or
lead to wrong decisions; ultimately, they are useless or counterproductive for the
company.
Integration requires the implementation of a comprehensive BI infrastructure; users face
two challenges: they have to overcome isolated BI solutions and must establish
communications with other enterprise applications, for instance, process management.
Additional, though less common, challenges include general business application
requirements such as speed and flexibility.
To address users’ major requirements, BI tools must be developed to simplify data
integration, while clearly increasing the performance of the analysis. Experton Group
expects “in-memory” technologies, i.e., solutions based on data evaluation in the main
memory, to replace traditional OLAP-based BI systems within the next two to three
years.
