Abstract
Outsourcing is on the rise. Many businesses are looking towards outsourcing as a way of trying to minimize costs, focus on their core business, improve efficiency, or obtain a competitive advantage. The breadth of functions which are being outsourced is also growing, from the “traditional” outsourcing of call centers and information technology to the newer functions such as engineering, procurement and HR services. This article looks at some of the employment pitfalls that can arise in the context of international outsourcing, and what can be done to avoid them.
